At Barber-Scotia you have two separate accounts. They arrive at different times, they have different passwords, and they do different things. Knowing which is which will save you a lot of confusion in your first few weeks.
Populi comes first
Populi is where your student record lives. You'll use it to see your course schedule, assignments, grades, and financial account, to pay your enrollment deposit and balance, and to complete required College forms.
You'll get your Populi invitation at the personal email address you used on your application, usually within a few days of being accepted. Sign in at b-sc.populiweb.com.
Your BSC email comes second
Your Barber-Scotia email address is your official channel with the College. Once it exists, this is where your advisor, your dean, financial aid, and your professors will communicate with you.
The IT Help Desk creates it after your enrollment is confirmed, and we send setup instructions to your personal email address. It usually arrives within a few days of your Intent to Enroll form, not on the same day you're accepted.
Two accounts means two passwords to login to systems
Populi and your BSC email are separate systems, so each one has its own password and its own reset process. Changing one won't change the other.
It's worth knowing this up front, because a password that works in one place and not the other usually means you're at the wrong sign-in page rather than that anything is broken. If you're not sure which system you're in, check the web address: Populi is at b-sc.populiweb.com, and BSC email is at b-sc.edu:2096.
Which one do I use?
- Courses, schedule, assignments, grades, financial account, paying a balance, College forms: Populi
- Messages from your advisor, dean, professors, and financial aid: BSC email
- Anything a professor asks you to send: BSC email, not a personal account
Who will actually email you
You'll hear from several BSC addresses, and that's normal. Enrollment writes from enrollment@b-sc.edu, your dean and advisor write from their own addresses, Populi sends automatic notifications, and IT support writes from helpdesk@b-sc.edu.
What none of them will ever do is ask you for your password. If a message asks for one, it isn't from the College. Forward it to helpdesk@b-sc.edu with PHISHING in the subject line.
If one of them hasn't arrived
Check the spam folder of your personal email first, since both invitations go there. If it's been more than a few days, write to helpdesk@b-sc.edu from any address you can access and tell us which account you're waiting on.
