Report a suspicious email

If a message looks wrong, send it to us. The one you report is usually the one that reached many other students too.

Don't interact with it first

Don't tap links, open attachments, or reply. Don't use any phone number in the message. Forwarding it to us is safe.

Forward it

Send it to helpdesk@b-sc.edu with PHISHING in the subject line. That word routes it to the right place, so please include it.

Add a sentence about anything you already did, especially if you clicked a link or entered a password. That changes what we do next, and it's the most useful thing you can tell us.

Keep the message until we reply

Don't delete the original yet. We may need to look at parts of it that don't survive a forward. Once we've confirmed we have what we need, delete it.

What happens next

We check whether the message reached other students, block the sender where we can, and let you know what we found. If the same campaign is hitting the whole campus, we'll send a notice out.

Report it even if you're not sure

You don't need to be certain. A message that turns out to be real costs us thirty seconds to confirm. A real one you ignored because you weren't sure costs a lot more.

If you already clicked

Go straight to Your account may be compromised. Then email us. You're not in trouble, and moving quickly makes a real difference.
